Tattoo Aftercare

What to avoid

DO NOT swim until all scabs have healed.

DO NOT use sunbed/ expose to sun whilst healing

(when healed always apply a high factor sun cream to

protect from premature fading)

If you go to the gym, avoid training the area tattooed, or ideally no gym until scabs have healed.

DO NOT pick or scratch!

DO NOT allow your pet near your fresh tattoo to avoid

them licking or scratching.

If you have any questions whilst healing, get in contact with your artist, no question is too silly!

After your tattoo

When you get home remove the cling film.

With clean hands wash your tattoo with warm soapy water

using the flat of your hand.

Pat dry with kitchen roll and leave uncovered.

Showers are better than baths, you do not want to soak the tattoo but washing it and keeping it clean is essential.

We recommend only applying cream as and when your tattoo

feels particularly dry or itchy.

When applying cream, we recommend AQUEOUS CREAM

or PALMERS COCOA BUTTER.

This should be applied as sparingly as possible.

Your tattoo will become dry and flaky, it is important to not pick or scratch! A light tap can help relieve any itching.

If your tattoo looks wet or weepy, do not apply any cream, gently rinse off any cream you may have applied and allow to dry out.

Healing Process

Once the flaky/scabby stage is over you will find the skin may look shiny and slightly wrinkled. The tattoo can appear light/dull.

We call this silver skin.

This stage can take up to a few weeks to heal.

You can apply moisturiser more frequently to help the new skin heal.

Once healed the tattoo will become darker again.
